Angela Georghiu / Gheorghiu
Angela Georghiu is a Romanian soprano.
Since her professional debut in 1990, she has sung leading roles at New York's "Metropolitan Opera," Covent Garden's "Royal Opera House," the "Vienna State Opera", Milan's "La Scala," and many other opera houses throughout Europe and the United States.
A recent Violetta in La Traviata at the Metropolitan Opera was well received.
As one of the opera superstars of today, Angela Gheorghiu is often recorded and has a substantial discography.
For three years she was married to the French tenor, Roberto Alagna and often performing together they were often referred to as "opera's golden couple". There is a DVD of them performing Donizetti's Elisire d'Amore together.
Angela Georghiu also starred in the Metropolitan Opera's HD broadcast of La Rondine and it too is available today on DVD.
