Carol Vaness is an American lyric soprano.
Carol Vaness made her debut with the San Francisco Opera in 1977. Her Metropolitan Opera debut came in 1984.
Since then she has sung in most of the major opera houses of Europe, including Teatro alla Scala, the Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, and the Royal Opera House/Covent Garden.
She has specialised in the roles of Mozart although she has performed in a wide range of operas, including the title role in Giacomo Puccini's Manon Lescaut and Tosca which she has sung with nearly every leading tenor of her day including Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Marcello Giordani.
Ms. Vaness now teaches at Indiana University working with voice students and conducting the opera workshop classes.
