Dongwon Shin is a Korean born operatic heroic tenor.
From playing Radames at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden and at the Vienna Staatsoper to playing Samson in Samson and Delilah in Trieste Dongwon Shin is a singer in great demand.
One of a rare breed of tenors these days he made his operatic debut in 2005 as Radames in Aida with the Opera Company of Philadelphia.
Since then he has made his debut with the San Francisco Opera as Radames and played Manrico in Il Trovatore in Dresden and enjoyed huge success in the same role in his debut with the Semperoper.
He has covered Dick Johnson in the San Francisco Opera's Fanciulla del West and he has played Radames for Opera Australia in the Sydney Opera House.
Dongwon Shin's repertoire includes Turridu from Cavalleria Rusticana which he has played at the Metropolitan Opera and his signature role is Calaf in Puccini's Turandot.
He has sung Canio in I Pagliacci and Polione in Norma, Edgar and Gemmaro in Lucrezia Borgia and he continues to add more roles to his growing repertoire.
