(July 6, 1910, — November 18, 1992)
Dorothy Kirsten's spinto soprano voice was always much demand in the USA of the fifties and sixties - frequently to step in at the last minute when other singers were indisposed.
Her repertoire was not large and she predominantly stuck to the Puccini roles- Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, La Fancuilla, Tosca and La Boheme.
In the forties she was one of the opera stars who featured in Hollywood films such as "The Toast of New Orleans" with Mario Lanza. She also was a regular guest on major television shows such as the Bell Telephone Hour.
Dorothy Kirsten is one of the featured stars on our "Legends" product range.
