Giulietta Simionato was an Italian mezzo-soprano with a career that spanned from the 1930s until her retirement in 1966.

She came to growing public attention in the 40's and by the time of her retirement she was one of the most respected singers of her generation.

A major recording artist, she had a large repertory including Rossini's Rosina and Cinderella, Charlotte in Werther and Carmen.

She also excelled in the Verdian repertoire, as Amneris, Eboli and Azucena, and as Santuzza in Mascagni's, Cavalleria Rusticana.
