Welsh, dramatic soprano Gwyneth Jones was the reigning British dramatic soprano for many years.
Famous for her Wagnerian performances at Bayreuth she also embraced a wider repertoire including Strauss and heavier roles such as "Turandot," always to much acclaim.
Her Brunhilde in the Pierre Boulez Bayreuth production of the complete Ring Cycle by Wagner is available on DVD. So too is an excellent recording of "Der Rosencavalier" with her as the Marschellin recorded early in her career.
