Helen Donath is an American soprano.
Born in Texas she has had a career that has spanned fifty years.

She started her career singing concert and lieder but in 1967 she began a long association with the Salzburg Festival when she sang Pamina in The Magic Flute at the Salzburg Festival.

From 1970 until 1990 she sang regularly with the Vienna State Opera.

Helen Donath has performed all over the world including the Metropolitan Opera , Salzburg Festival, Covent Garden, La Scala, Barcelona, Paris, Florence, Tokyo, Berlin, Munich.

She has an impressive discography that includes singing Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Fidelio (as Marzelline) with Jon Vickers, conducted by Herbert von Karajan, Orfeo ed Euridice (as Amor), Gianni Schicchi (as Lauretta), The Land of Smiles (as Hanna), The Land of Smiles (as Lisa), Arabella (as Zdenka), Der Rosenkavalier (as Sophie to Régine Crespin's Marschallin), Un Ballo in Maschera (as Oscar) with Luciano Pavarotti, The Magic Flute (as Pamina), L'Incoronazione di Poppea (as Poppea), L'anima del Filosofo, Hänsel und Gretel, with Anna Moffo, Christa Ludwig, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau & Lucia Popp, and Sancta Susanna (as Susanna).

She met her husband, choir master and conductor Klaus Donath in Hanover and their son Alexander is a stage and opera director.

In 2000 the three of them worked together in Michigan Opera Theatre's production of Der Rosenkavalier.
