Jose Cura is an operatic tenor always in demand for his intense and compelling performances.
He has been filmed many times and he is noted for having a very charismatic stage presence.
He was born in Argentina and trained as an orchestral conductor originally. In Hamburg in 2003 he made history by conducting Cavalleria Rusticana then stepping onto the stage in the second presentation of the evening- to play Canio in I Pagliacci.
Jose Cura has been known to take baritone roles using his extended range but he is best noted for his interpretations of Samson in Samson & Delilah and Otello in Verdi’s masterpiece of the same name.
