Plácido Domingo, is a Spanish tenor and in recent years, a sometime conductor.

He is one of the opera world's greatest living opera legends and is known the world over for his versatile, strong voice, possessing a ringing and dramatic tone throughout its range.

At this time, well into his seventies Placido continues to add new roles to his already long repertoire of 128 operas… a record no other tenor has surpassed.

With performances and numerous full set recordings of many operas on disc and on film, Placido has proved that in the opera world he has few peers.

One of the great Otello's of his time, Placido has recently started to add baritone roles such as Rigoletto and Simon Boccanegra to his already long list. Ever assisting new singers, Placido was the first recipient of the first $1m Birgit Nilsson award in 2007.

He is also a noted singer of orchestral song cycles for the tenor voice.

Placido Domingo is one of the featured stars on our "Legends" product range.
