Sherrill Milnes is an American operatic baritone.

From 1965 till 1997 he was most famous for his Verdi roles at the Metropolitan.

Blessed with a high dramatic baritone voice and a commanding handsome stage presence, Milnes became one of the world's most prominent Verdi baritones of the 70's and 80's.

One of his early teachers was the famed soprano Rosa Ponselle.

He is pictured here in the title role of Verdi's "Simon Boccanegra".
