Teresa Stratas, now retired to Florida, was an especially well-known award-winning actress- soprano.

Her good looks and compelling performances made her an audience favourite especially at the Metropolitan where she starred in many performances.

In addition to her many performances in some of the world's leading opera houses, her filmed performances stand testament to her considerable talents.

Richard Strauss's filmed "Salome" with Astrid Varnay and "Violetta" in the Franco Zefferelli film of La Traviata (83) with Placido Domingo as Alfredo as well as the title role in the filmed production of of Alban Berg's "Lulu" brought her world- wide recognition.

She is also featured in a recorded performance with Juan Pons and Placido Domingo in Puccini's Il Tabarro.

Here pictured is Teresa Stratas in Berg's shocking mastserpiece, Lulu.
