Waltraud Meier is a German dramatic soprano whose range also encompasses an easy mezzo. 

Although she has made a huge mark singing Wagnerian roles such as Venus, Isolde,  Seglinde and Ortrud, she has also enjoyed great success in the French and Italian repertoires.

In that genre she has performed Eboli, Amneris, Carmen and Santuzza and she has appeared in all the main opera houses of Europe

In 2003 under the baton of Daniel Barenboim she shared a Grammy Award for “Best Opera Recording” playing Venus in Wagner’s Tannhauser.
